Zenit Football Club was established in May 1925 as the team of Stalin Leningrad Metal Plant.
Today it is one of the leading domestic clubs and the only one which has been capable of collecting absolutely every trophy of the national championships: Championship Cups, Cups and Super Cups of the USSR and Russia, and the Premier League Cup.
Besides, the Saint Petersburg team brought two Euro Cups to Russia.
For the past 13 years the team has reached true global success.
In 2007, Zenit trained by Dick Advocaat for the second time in its history became the country's Champion, and a year later it won UEFA Cup and Super Cup.
With Luciano Spalletti, the team won two championships in a row, Cup and Super Cup of Russia, and what's most important, it started regularly playing in the most prestigious European tournament, the Champions League.
Sports performance is not everything that makes Zenit proud.
For Saint Petersburg it is not simply a football club, but a real symbol of the city, reflection of its cultural and historical values. According to surveys, Zenit is supported by 15 million people in Russia, and ratings of consulting agencies always include it into the top 100 most expensive sports brands worldwide.
Zenit is especially proud of its home stadium Gazprom Arena. In summer 2017 it hosted four matches (including the final one) of the Confederations Cup, and in a year — seven games of the World Championship.
Gazprom Arena is the most attended football stadium of the country: in 2018/19 season the home matches of the team were attended by 1,119,896 fans.
This is an absolute record in Russia.
